In each of our three classes, core learning concepts such as math and literacy are seamlessly integrated into the play-based curriculum and are steadily increased at age-appropriate levels. The classroom is organized in stations to allow students the opportunity to explore different activities, while fostering creativity and independence. The teacher communicates directly with parents through informal conversations, report cards, and formal conferences to address each child’s unique development.
Otters (18 months-3 years old)
The Otters class is offered for children who are 18 months old by August 31st, until they are 3. Children at this age are just beginning to be capable of separation, so parents have the option to attend each class, or to work towards dropping students off on days that are not their once-a-week work day. The goal of the this class is to encourage independence by cultivating trust and security in the classroom. Skill development is focused on familiarizing students with schedules and activity transitions, increasing verbal communication, and encouraging bodily management through self-guided play, music, art, sensory, and pretend activities.
Seals (3-5 years old)
The Seals class is for children who are 3 years old by August 31 and drop-off is encouraged. Parents will commit to one work day per week per child enrolled. This class continues to focus on schedules and transitions while allowing the students to practice independence through activities such as weekly classroom jobs that include jobs like weather checker and line-leader. They will have the opportunity to practice fine-motor skills with art projects, gross-motor skills through big-muscle games and dancing, as well as be introduced to foreign and sign languages. Additionally, they will continue to refine their social and cooperative abilities through dramatic play and communal snack. As with each of our classes, they are encouraged to learn through play!
Gulls (4-5 years old)
The Gulls class is for Pre-K students who are 4 years old by August 31. Parents will commit to one work day per week, per child enrolled. This class continues to build on previous basics while also introducing handwriting and early literacy concepts. Activity rotations are more structured and students begin to implement their skill-sets in each area.

At EvCP, we are all owners, creators, and managers of our children’s preschool. Parental involvement and duties are as follows:
- Parents are co-teachers in the preschool classroom one day per week.
- Parent education opportunities will be available throughout the year.
- Parents hold either a board position or another parental job, which enables the preschool to continue to run smoothly.
- Parents also assist with set-up and clean-up days and attend orientation meetings.
- Parents are required to attend membership meetings throughout the year.
- Social outings will be organized to allow for families to connect outside of school. All families are strongly encouraged to participate in the various potlucks, meetups, and playdates.
